Norman Hunter

Overnighters are sad to hear of the passing of one its favourite callers, ‘Stormin’
Norman’ Hunter, the Broadmeadows baker.
Norman shared his thoughts about music and life on the talkback program over many years.
Norman’s wife of 38 years, Annette, last week telephoned Overnighters
radio program host Keith McGowan to advise of his death.
Norman was a respected elder of the Gunung-William-Balluk clan, and played a huge role in the setup of the
Kangan Batman Indigenous Learning Centre.
Norman died peacefully at his Coolaroo home, with his family of six children and seven grandchildren, after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. More than 400 people attended his funeral service, and local tributes have appeared in the
Hume Leader and Star newspapers.
His daughter, Kellie Loughton, described her father as a loving, giving, family man with great knowledge of his culture and heritage, reported
Brigid Harkin of the Star local newspaper.
